Change of Plans

President Tan shook his head slowly. “I’m fine. It’s probably my first time using my power, so I must’ve exhausted myself,” he said. “Don’t worry about me.”

He thought of the pill that Yao Tang had given him.

As if by magic, his body started to feel warm all over. He took a deep breath, feeling as if his strength and energy were returning to him.

He slowly relaxed in his seat, and he felt his exhaustion practically disappearing before him.

Now, all he needed was to get some sleep and rejuvenate.

Unfortunately, he still had some business to do. President Tan struggled to keep his eyes open, catching sight of his reflection in the rearview mirror.

His complexion was already recovering.

A slow smile slipped into his lips. He appeared to look much better.

In fact, he didn’t appear as weak as he had been back then.

...

On the other side of the city, the elders of the Inner Pavilion appeared to be in the discussion. They all appeared to be quite serious as they spoke,

“Well? Has the Green Cloud Pavilion agreed to our conditions? We’ve already offered them so much!” Elder Li furrowed his eyebrows.

At this moment, Deng Hai came walking toward them with a solemn expression on his face. He looked like someone had just died.

“Unbelievable!”

One look at his expression, Elder Wang slammed his walking stick onto the ground. “We’ve already offered them everything we could,” he spat. “And they still wouldn’t agree? We should wipe them out! Such a useless organization!”

They were aware of the establishment of the Green Cloud Pavilion.

However, they never really placed much importance on it.

All these years, the Green Cloud Pavilion had stayed under their radar. Everyone thought that they’ve been destroyed long ago, but they never thought that they’d have the gall to kidnap one of their own.

They were all furious, but they were also afraid.

How powerful were they to be able to harm Elder Chen?

“It’s not that.”

Deng Hai slowly shook his head. His face darkened. “I’ve already given them our conditions, and they look like they’re about to agree, but...I didn’t think...”

“What?”

Elder Li frowned anxiously.

Deng Hai sighed. They were about to agree to it, but they suddenly changed their mind. They refused the deal directly, and they’ve halted all communications with the Cabinet.

“I don’t know what happened.”

A trace of bitterness painted his voice.

Rescuing Elder Chen was their top priority.

As the eldest disciple, he was very capable of many things. Not only was he strong, but he was also very intelligent. He’s always been the Cabinet’s strongest disciple.

They were so close to succeeding!

And now they’ve changed their mind!

Hearing this, Elder Wang’s face was filled with anger. He clenched his fists and slammed the table right in front of him. The sound echoed across the room.

Everyone fell silent.

“The people from the Green Cloud Pavilion are obviously toying with us. I’ll bring my men forward and fight them right now! Those puny bastards think they can handle the likes of us?”

He stood up in a flash, snarling.

Elder Li was quick to stop him. “Elder Wang,” he hurriedly said. “Please, don’t get ahead of yourself. Why don’t we discuss this? Even if we can fight our way in, we have to know what they’re capable of. Besides, do you even know where their base is located?”

“We have to be more careful. We can’t let them take advantage of our state,” he slowly said. “We can’t afford to lose more people in the Cabinet.”

Elder Wang froze.

He was right.

Since Elder Yao had disappeared, the Inner Pavilion was in shambles. It was as if they have lost their very foundation, and they were starting to see the cracks.

All of his disciples had either disappeared or died.

Now, the Inner Pavilion consisted of 20 people now, a large decrease from their original number. They must do their best to carry forward.
